About Dragonfly Discovery Studio
Hi, I’m Jaime--creator, maker, and dreamer behind Dragonfly Discovery Studio.
Arts, crafts, music, and nature have always been an important part of my life, and I have hoped for a long time that building a business around those things would be in my future. Hobbies are my absolute favorite form of self care. I believe strongly in the power of creating, playing, experimenting, and learning. They are not just fun extras; they are essential parts of a joyful, fulfilling life.
There are many times in the past I have been so wrapped up in the busyness of life when my hobbies fall to the wayside. Eventually I get back to them, wondering why I neglected my need to create in the first place. I wish someone had tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Hey girl, it’s okay to take time for YOU. Creating is part of what makes you feel whole.”
That’s what I hope Dragonfly Discovery Studio becomes for you—a gentle reminder to pause, play, and reconnect with the joy of creating. Whether it’s through a craft kit, a sensory playset, a workshop, or a handmade item, I want to help others discover new things, explore their passions, and make space for creativity in their lives.
While my studio isn’t yet a space to host a group, I dream of one day having a place where all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can gather to create, play, and connect. Until then, I’m building my dream one kit, class, and conversation at a time.
What's in a name? Why dragonfly? I love dragonflies—their beauty, grace, transformation and the legend that connects us to the presence of loved ones who have passed. In many ways, this studio is a reflection of my own transformation, a way to honor who and what I’ve lost while moving forward with hope, purpose and joy.
So much of my previous life experiences have brought me here. As a young person, I was involved in Girl Scouts, youth group, choir, speech, & theater. I worked as a babysitter & PCA, food service, office assistant, and reading tutor. Most of my adult life I have been working with children and teens with special needs, primarily with the neurodiverse population. I was first a service provider and then manager and operations team member in behavioral health. Now, I’m embracing the full-time adventure of motherhood with my two little ones (Miss Sparkle is 5, and Little Fox is 1) and pouring my heart into this business.
Thank you for being here, it means the world.
With love,
Jaime
